Moclín, a historic hillside village in southern Spain, about a short drive from Granada, is the breathtaking backdrop for this painting holiday. Participants of all abilities – even novices – will be taught how to design and produce non-representational pieces. Some time will be spent outdoors, working on tutorials in the open. These initial sketches and watercolour studies will then be expanded upon in the workspace, with guests producing several abstract landscapes in acrylic paint to be shown in the local community. Participants has exclusive access of the hotel, which is set around an open courtyard and has a roof terrace with panoramic vistas over the countryside. This sun-drenched foodie getaway, based at a riverside villa in the central Algarve, is draws inspiration from the vegetarian dishes of renowned chefs. Participants will learn to produce selection of small dishes, take part in a falafel-making workshop, refine brunch dishes such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses such as spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. There are trips to the village market and a local vineyard to sample local vintages, plus free time for strolls by the Funcho River, to unwind on the deck or take a dip in the infinity pool. The farmhouse, a renovated rural property, has five bedrooms, plus glamping tents in the grounds.

Street Dance in High Wycombe
Hip Hop Don’t Stop is an uplifting, welcoming three-day adults’ street dance camp in High Wycombe. The daily schedule throughout the camp is a party-style warm-up session, then several 90-minute classes covering different street dance styles, then an 60-minute jam to demonstrate new moves. Participants are split into levels according to skill level, so it is suitable for those who are completely new to popping and locking, right up to experienced performers or instructors. The camp does not provide lodging but there are a number of hostels and hotels nearby, and it is under an hour by train into London.

Sea Shanty Break in St Ives
St Ives is the ideal spot for a maritime music retreat. Guests will be taught traditional shanties from a folk singer and vocal coach, and have a go at writing their own. The schedule includes vocal warmups, breathing exercises, stagecraft advice and a closing performance. The holiday is held in a rural hotel overlooking the bay. Full board are included, such as a traditional tea on the first day, cooked or continental breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals. Traditional rum, alas, is not provided. Writer and tutor an experienced instructor leads the regular sessions on this writing retreat. He covers topics including story structure, character development, locations and suspense, to sending manuscripts to publishers.
