Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
