FC Barcelona to Host First Match at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host the Bilbao team in domestic competition two and a half years after they moved out for construction to commence.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, a rise from the old capacity. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.
Recent Activities
Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou in early November. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side on 9 December in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
