The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The latest Far Cry instalment that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for embracing violence and madness with similar glee, all while weaving engaging, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two creators whose work have exemplified all of those things.

About the Series

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game property, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' style by introducing a different setting and ensemble in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.

“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant confidence and support.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every title is a take of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a story,” said Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can evolve from year to year, while always examining the essence of people through this complex and turbulent viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and introduce our mutual irreverent, ambitious sensibility to the audience.”

A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
